The logic is that of a hot tub, but the volumes change everything: where a hydromassage tub holds a thousand litres, a swim spa holds several thousand. Dose against the actual volume, not by eye

This is the most frequent mistake on these tubs. The doses stated on the products refer to cubic metres: on a spa of eight or ten cubic metres, a dose judged by eye against experience with a hot tub is systematically wrong. It is worth noting the exact volume of your own tub once and for all, which is in the technical sheet, and calculating doses from that. Sanitiser and pH should be checked regularly: at large volumes the drift is slow but hard to correct once it has happened.

Filtration and water changes

The filtration cycle has to turn over the entire volume several times a day: it is the parameter that determines whether the water stays clear. If the tub struggles to stay in condition despite correct treatment, the problem is almost always in the duration or the flow rate of the filtration cycle, not in the products. A complete water change happens less often than on a hot tub, precisely because of the volume involved, but it requires drainage arrangements planned at installation stage.
