The steam generator is the heart of a Turkish bath
In a hammam cabin almost everything lasts, except the component that produces the steam. The 6 spare parts on this page revolve around it: five generators from € 1.207 to € 2.427, plus the shower. Output ranges from 3,000 to 10,500 W, and it is not a free choice: it depends on the volume of the cabin, not on preference.
How output is chosen
An undersized generator never brings the cabin up to working condition: it produces steam that disperses faster than it is generated, and the room stays lukewarm. An oversized one saturates too quickly and makes the system cycle. The practical rule is to start from the actual cubic metres of the cabin, allowing for the wall material as well: a stone-lined cabin absorbs more heat than an acrylic one and needs more output for the same volume. If you are replacing an existing generator, the safe route is to keep the same output: that figure was already calculated for your cabin.
Dimensions and connection
The generators run from 39 × 15 × 31 cm for the 3,000 W unit to 50 × 20 × 52 cm for the 10,500 W: these are units to house in a ventilated equipment bay, not on show inside the cabin. They need a water supply, a drain and an electrical circuit sized to the output: above 6,000 W a three-phase supply is almost always required. Installation and connection should be entrusted to a qualified technician, who issues the certificate of conformity.
Frequently asked questions about Turkish bath spare parts
What output does my cabin need? It depends on cubic metres and lining. If you are replacing, keep the output of the outgoing generator. If the cabin is new or has been modified, send us the dimensions and we will check the sizing.
The generator no longer produces steam: does it need replacing? Not necessarily. Check the limescale on the element and the level probe first, which is the most common cause and the least expensive: hard water reduces output long before it breaks the unit. Periodic descaling extends component life considerably.
Can I install it myself? No. These units connect to both the water supply and a power circuit: a qualified technician is required.
How long do they last? Almost entirely down to water hardness and how often the cabin is used. With hard water and no maintenance the element scales up quickly; with regular descaling the life extends by years.
